About Clean & Recovery
We provide free, accurate addiction education so people get the help they need faster. Every article on this site is written with one goal: giving you clear information you can act on today.
Over 46 million Americans meet the criteria for a substance use disorder. Fewer than 10% receive treatment. One of the biggest barriers is information. People do not know what they are dealing with, what options exist, or where to start. We built Clean & Recovery to close that gap.
Our Mission
Addiction does not care about your background, income, or education level. It affects everyone. Our mission is to make reliable addiction information available to anyone who needs it, at no cost.
We focus on three things:
- Education: Clear, research-backed information about drugs, addiction, and the brain
- Recovery guidance: Practical steps for getting clean, staying sober, and building a new life
- Resource access: Connecting people to treatment centers, hotlines, and support groups that are free or covered by insurance
We do not accept money from treatment centers for placement or endorsement. Our content is independent.
Why You Should Trust Our Content
Trust matters when lives are at stake. We follow strict editorial standards to make sure every piece of content on this site is accurate, current, and useful.
Evidence-Based Information
All medical claims are backed by peer-reviewed research, government health agencies (NIDA, SAMHSA, CDC), or established medical organizations. We cite our sources at the bottom of every article.
Regular Content Reviews
We review and update articles when new research or guidelines emerge. Outdated information in addiction treatment can be dangerous. We treat accuracy as an ongoing responsibility.
No Industry Bias
We do not accept payments from rehab facilities, pharmaceutical companies, or treatment brokers. When we recommend resources, we recommend them because they are effective and accessible.
Plain Language
Medical jargon creates barriers. We write at a reading level that is accessible to everyone. If a concept is complex, we explain it in terms anyone can follow.
Our Editorial Process
Every article published on Clean & Recovery goes through a structured process:
Research
Writers research the topic using primary sources: clinical studies, government databases, treatment guidelines, and expert interviews.
Writing
Content is written in clear, direct language. We follow E-E-A-T principles (Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trustworthiness) required by Google's quality guidelines.
Fact-Checking
All statistics, drug interactions, treatment protocols, and medical claims are verified against authoritative sources before publication.
Ongoing Updates
Published articles are reviewed periodically. When treatment guidelines change or new data becomes available, we update the content and note the revision date.
