The 12-Step Program: A Beginner's Guide
What is the 12-Step Program?
The 12-Step program is a set of guiding principles for recovery from addiction, originally developed by Alcoholics Anonymous. It has since been adapted for numerous other addictions.
The 12 Steps
The steps involve admitting powerlessness over addiction, believing in a higher power, making amends, and helping others in recovery. Each step builds on the previous one.
Getting Started
Find a local meeting through AA, NA, or other 12-Step organization websites. Most meetings welcome newcomers warmly.
